DANVILLE, PA ~ Gertrude C. “Gertie” Foust, 90, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Emmanuel Nursing Center in Danville, PA. She was born December 3, 1931, in Shamokin P, the daughter of the late Raymond and Eva Weaver Hoover.
She was married for 70 years to the love of her life, the late Robert E. Foust who passed away September 10, 2017, whom she married June 13, 1953.
She was employed by McWilliams Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician for over 40 years where she greeted everyone with a warm and inviting smile.
Gertie was a member of St. Paul’s Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She volunteered for many years at Geisinger Medical Center in coordination with the American Cancer Society in setting up the transporting of cancer patients to their appointments.
She was an avid exerciser at the Danville Area Community Center and could be seen walking the streets of Danville whenever she had the opportunity.
Gertie will be remembered for her compassionate and caring heart for people. She will be remembered by her family for never missing a sporting event and always “being fully present” in the moments of time shared with each of them.
She is survived by one son, Robert A. Foust and fiancé Christina Jordan of Danville PA and one daughter, Carol Ann Barbarich and her husband Jim of Danville PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Jamie, Jimmy and Kristen and six great-grandchildren; Braylan, Layton, Emma, Lucas, Norah and Penelope. Also surviving is one niece, Deb Nye and several nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Walk-Through Visitation to be held Tuesday evening, September 27, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA. Burial will be private in Elan Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
